Title The Acupuncture CourseBack to Contents
The Acupuncture CourseWe are introducing a new course in acupuncture to start in September 2008, to replace our previous course which we have run for 20 years. The new course will be a BSc in Acupuncture, with the option of an MSc for some students. The course is currently in the advanced stages of development. Please note that some details of modules and course structure are subject to further change as the development process progresses.

The course blends theory and skills with clinical practice and personal growth. The course is structured so that all non-clinical teaching takes place at weekends, allowing students to continue with weekday commitments. It starts in late September, and normally takes three years to complete, though there is the option to spread the course over up to six years.

The Acupuncture CourseAt the Northern College we value the complexity and diversity of Chinese medicine. We first teach a coherent grounding in the subject, using the structured approach to Chinese medicine which is taught at colleges in China and reflected in much of the acupuncture literature worldwide. This is invaluable in practice. Later in the course, we teach further traditional models and modern techniques to equip you with a variety of approaches to diagnosis and treatment. This allows you to develop your own style and construct a personal repertoire from which you can select the approach best suited to an individual patient, rather than focusing exclusively on one style of acupuncture.

Our acupuncture course stimulates your development in many ways. You will experience many new perceptions, thoughts and feelings. It is hardly surprising that at the end of our course students tell us how much they have changed and how positive that has been.

* BSc in Acupunture subject to validation
