Title Applying for the course - Entry RequirementsBack to Contents
BSc* in Acupuncture
The entry requirements are 200 points at A2 level, or equivalent. We also welcome applications from mature students and those who do not have a conventional educational background. We provide ample support for those returning to, or new to, academic study and will do everything we can to help you succeed. Every application is assessed on its individual merits.

*subject to validation

MSc in Acupuncture
Applicants should have either a degree, or be able to demonstrate degree level learning and skills gained, typically, through responsible experience in a related field.

Applications based on work and life experience
If you do not have the formal qualifications which make you eligible for the BSc or MSc, you may be able to make a case based on your learning from work and life experience. We will help you to do this. The process begins at interview, where we work with you to identify evidence of your experience, which you then submit in support of your application. For example, we will help you to identify what you have learnt about your specific area of work, how you have learnt to investigate, interpret and apply information, and examples of areas of responsibility, projects, decision making, problem-solving and communication skills. For further guidance on this, please contact our Registrar.

Entry to the Profession
For both the BSc and MSc options you need to demonstrate that you will thrive on the academic and practical aspects of the course, and that you will be ready and able to take on the responsibilities of a professional acupuncturist when you qualify. All these aspects are assessed carefully as part of our selection process.

Equal Opportunities
We aim to select applicants on an equal opportunities basis and we are keen that our intake reflects the ethnic diversity of Britain.

English Language Requirement
Communication is such an important part both of the course, and in interactions with patients, that students should be proficient in the use of spoken and written English. If English is not your first language you must take an English language assessment with the International English Language Testing System (IELT).
